Christy DeShazo, Sundancer Drill Team Director

 

The Martin High School Sundancer Drill Team is proud to be under the direction of Christy DeShazo. She is passionate about students, dance & community. She has over 3 decades of teaching experience in the DFW area winning numerous national championships & many other accolades as well as writing dance & teen leadership curriculum. Mrs. DeShazo is longtime American Dance/Drill Team staff member serving in various roles as staff captain, choreographer, & adjudicator across the nation. She is a member of the Texas Dance Educators Association. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Stephen F Austin State University where she held a classical dance scholarship all 4 years while earning her degree in dance, history & kinesiology. She began her dance career young as a classically trained ballerina with Kathy Chamberlain School of Ballet, Dallas Ballet Company & Northwest HS Sidekicks Drill Team. She is blessed to be the mom of 5 adventurous children. She has a unique experience of being the parent of a drill team member as well as decades as the director. She is proud Texan  being born, raised and lived in the DFW area her entire life.
